Assessment of and for Student Learning

Teachers systematically gather, analyze, and use all relevant data to measure student academic progress, guide instructional content and delivery methods, and provide timely feedback to both students and parents throughout the school year.

The purpose of this standard is to require accurate, fair, and consistent recording and interpreting of student data.  The goal of this stand is to ensure that students are learning as planned.  The objective of the standard is for teachers to employ effective learning criteria that is objective and meaningful.  A teacher who meets this standard is one who uses a variety of assessment strategies and instruments that are valid and appropriate for the content and for the student population, involves students in setting learning goals and monitoring their own progress, and gives constructive and frequent feedback to students on their learning.

I graphed the scores my French IV students got in a pre-test and post-test on material I taught in a 2-week unit to create a visual of their improvement.  No student passed the pre-test, while every student passed the post-test and did very well.
