Teachers plan using the Virginia Standards of Learning, the school’s curriculum, effective strategies, resources, and data to meet the needs of all students.
The purpose of this standard is to make the most of instructional time. The goal is to develop teachers’ efficacy at preparing lessons in ways that maximize student learning potential. The objective is that teachers will both understand effective lesson planning and will carry out such planning in their curricula. Teachers fulfill these ends by using student learning data to guide planning, by aligning lesson objectives to the school’s curriculum and student learning needs, and by planning for differentiated instruction.
